Blossom is the tetartagonist of the 2024 live-action/animated fantasy comedy drama film IF. She tags along with Blue to get the help of Cal and Bea.
Appearance[]
Blossom is an anthropomorphic butterfly with a distinct rubber hose cartoon style, reminiscent of 1930s-era animation. She wears a pink shirt with puffy sleeves, a pink blouse and tutu with red and black striped dress suspenders, a black buttoned dress vest, white gloves and pink ballet slippers. She also has two light blue and black deflated butterfly wings.
When re-uniting with Bea's grandmother Margaret, Blossom glows a rose-type color and gains full-size butterfly wings.
Personality[]
Blossom is very polite. She is shown to care a lot about the ones she knows, as she constantly tells Blue to stop scaring Bea, and had made up a way to calm Blue down. She also offers Bea a cup of tea in an attempt to calm her nerves.
History[]
Blossom is first seen watching Bea from the top of the apartment stairs, when she is discovered, it is shown she lives just a floor above Bea. She began to get anxious and panicked when Bea discovered her. Eventually, it is revealed she was once the IF of Margaret, Bea's grandmother.
Trivia[]
- Blossom's visual aesthetic was inspired by the 2D work of American animation company, Fleischer Studios, and their most popular female cartoon icon, Betty Boop.[1]
- Gary Dunn, a 2D artist, finalized Blossom's look based on initial sketches, as well as for other IFs in the film. Dunn also worked as a concept artist for Lola Bunny from Space Jam in 1996.
- Her age is specified to be in her early 60s or early 80s she is not the oldest IF in the movie
